Wanting to get back into blogging!

What an exciting 2 years it has been! There is no way to go over everything that has gone on! In two years, we got married, honeymooned in the Bahamas, I've started my own photography business, I am still a 3 year old teacher, Thame is now almost in his 4th year of medical school, and life is going pretty much just good.

We are excited for what 2012 has in store for us. My business is really going great and growing so much! I launched my website www.kspphotography.com on January 30, 2012 after 7 months of trying to create it! I have so much to look forward too in the coming months! It's definitely keeping me very busy, for which I am very grateful. I can't wait to see what it's like this time next year.

I don't even know what else to say, but I feel the need to get back into blogging! Hope all is well! :)

Woohoo!!

I have totally neglected this blog!! So sorry in the lack of updates, I haven't really had much to update on...until now! I promise I will be better! But...

I'M ENGAGED!!! YAY!

Thame proposed on Feb. 9th, 2010. I walked in the door from work that day and he was on his knee and asked me to marry him! Of course, I said "yes"! Wedding plans have begun, although not much has been accomplished! We do know that we will be getting married November 20, 2010 at 3:30 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mobile, Alabama. I'm relieved that I was able to reserve a church on that day!

Next weekend I will be going to Mobile to meet the wedding planner, wedding dress shopping, and hopefully finding a venue for the reception and rehearsal dinner. It will be a very busy weekend, but i'm excited!!

Happy Saturday!

I love Saturdays...especially in the fall! It is so nice to sit at home and watch college football all day! If only Thame didn't have to study! But ya gotta do what ya gotta do! :) Speaking of studying....look what Thame did...haha he didn't even realize what he was doing and coloring a nice oval on his tummy while he was studying! It made me laugh...and I made him model it for me!

UAB started off the season with an awesome game and I got so pumped that we were going to be a competitive team this year! Then last weekend happened...we lost our 2nd game by 2 points! UGH! Hopefully they will step it up! We play Troy today at 2:30. Go Blazers!!!

My tigers are doing pretty good so far! I haven't seen anything too impressive yet this season, but as long as we keep winning games I will be happy! Geaux Tigers!!!!

Thame just told me that UAB is to play LSU in 2013!!!! Who do I cheer for????? OHHH Lord!

Only 11 more days till my favorite month of the year!! I LOVE October!

My sweet little pudgy, funny, adorable nephew is ONE YEAR OLD! I cannot believe it! This year has gone by so fast and I wish I could have been closer to him!! He turned 1 on Sept. 5th...so I'm quite late on putting a post up, but I did go to his birthday party and everything on his real day!

Well, i've been at the new job for about a month now. I wish I could say that I absolutely love it and it has been the best thing ever, but I can't! It is not what I expected to say the least. I teach 2 1/2-3 year olds and they are definitely a challenge. Individually, they are the sweetest kids ever, but they are little terrors when they are all together. I am literally sleep walking by the end of the day because you have to be on your toes at all times and it will wear you out! But, what can you expect with two year olds. Anyway, I just have to tell myself it is only temporary and hope it will get better! Some days are better than others!


Thame is doing really well in school so far and seems to be enjoying it! He did great on his first big test and I am so proud of him! We literally saw each other for like an hour during test week. He got through it and did great! Yay! One down...tons more to go!!

Well what do ya know...

I FINALLY got a job!

I'm going to be teaching 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 year old's (god bless me, what am I thinking?) at The Goddard School starting Monday. I will be learning from the teacher in there now for a couple weeks and will then transition to the Lead Teacher position. The school seems wonderful so far! Everyone there seems really nice. Its not a daycare, it's a school...SACs accredited and everything and I will be writing lesson plans and stuff, so it makes me happy that I will using my degree!

Of course it is just a stepping stone to hopefully get into an elementary school next fall, but I'm excited! I can't wait to meet my kids and start getting to know them! By the end of this I will probably be able to potty train blindfolded, figure out ways to discipline without time out, hopefully still have some hair left on my head...and hopefully teach them something in the process.

I'm so grateful for this opportunity and look forward to updating y'all soon! Wish me luck!

Sorry!

Sorry I have been such a bad blogger lately! I honestly just haven't really had much to talk about! I'm still looking for a job, but I had an interview today at a preschool so hopefully something will work out with that! I'll take what I can get at this point!

I finally moved into the new townhome and I love it! Everything is coming together really nicely and I think I will really be happy hear for a while. Here are lots of pictures...keep in mind it looks much better in person! I'll just show you the downstairs for now...

I hate putting a title!

So...what's been going on with me?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I'm in the process of a job search, which is not really going well at all! I had an interview with Hoover City School's last Thursday and the interview went great! But, I talked to the Director of Human Resources yesterday and she said that due to proration and filling in positions with reading coaches and math coaches, etc. they only have TWO spots available for hire! UGH! I have probably applied to over 50 teaching positions and have not heard back from one! They keep saying that they are filling in available spots with people that work in the schools that did not work in the classroom (reading coach, math coach, technology person, all those kinds of people) because their jobs are being cut back. I have also applied for teachers aide positions and many other things to work my way into the school systems, so hopefully something will come about! Sorry for rambling! I know I will want to be sitting at home once I finally do get a job, but I am bored out of my mind...and I need some form of income! ugh.

Today, however, I got an email from some Human Resources Director from Birmingham saying that he really liked my resume and wants to interview me for a head preschool teaching position. I emailed him back for more information and haven't heard back yet, but I will keep y'all posted!

Still house hunting as well...Lakeshore Ridge is making us pay rent for July because we only gave them a 25 day notice instead of 30 days that we wouldn't be returning. Needless to say, I was pissed cause we were finally making progress and found a few places we liked! Oh well...

Oh...Trish, here is the recipe:

I made some DELICIOUS homemade crabcakes last night for dinner:

This makes 4 big crabcakes:

Ingredients:
-2 packs of lump crabmeat (I used the stuff where the tuna is in the grocery store)
-1/4 of a yellow onion
-1/4 cup of mayonnaise
-dash of cayenne pepper
-teaspoon garlic salt
-1 egg
-1 1/3 cup of breadcrumbs (regular)
-dash of tony chaceries (spelling?)
-1 teaspoon lemon juice
-4 tbsp. butter
-1 stick of celery (very small bit, I had the baby celery at home)

I thinks that's everything...haha.

Alright, what you're gonna do is chop the onion very finely or grade it into the bowl. Then you're going to add in the celery chopped very finely. Add in the cayenne pepper, garlic salt, tony's, lemon juice, and mayo, and crabmeat. Mix it up good. Then add about 3/4 cup of breadcrumbs into the mix and 1 egg. Mix it up really really good! Divide into 4 crabcakes (about the size of a hamburger patty). Put the rest of the breadcrumbs on a plate and roll the crab cake patties in the breadcrumbs and cover them really good. Melt the butter in a skillet and put the crabcakes in! Fry them till they are golden brown on either side...DELISH!

I also mixed 1/4 cup of mayo, 1 1/2 tabespoons of spicy brown mustard, a squirt of hot sauce and it made a really yummy dipping sauce for them.

I Graduated!!!!!!!

Overdue Update!

Sorry for not posting! I have been around, but very very busy! My last day of Student Teaching was yesterday. Do you know what that means????? I AM DONE WITH COLLEGE! Can you believe it? Cause I cannot. I am so glad to be done. I will miss my kids at Rocky Ridge and my cooperating teacher, but it's a relief to finally be finished. My teacher threw me a going away party yesterday...it was sweet! The kids drew this huge yellow poster that says "we will miss you!!" and my CT traced their bodies and they colored themselves in...it's pretty funny to look at! Anyway, I am glad to be moving on and excited to see what the future brings!

Graduation is next weekend!!!!! My fam/friends are coming up to celebrate and I cannot wait! I'm not excited about sitting through the ceremony, but hey I will take it! The last 4 years went by crazy fast now that I think about it.

Thame should be hearing from med school in the couple of weeks. UAB has already started pulling people off the waitlist so hopefully he will be one of them! We are going to stay in Birmingham for the summer no matter what and then depending on whether he gets into UAB or not, we will move to Mobile! I rrrrreeeaalallllly want to move home, but if he gets in up here...its one step closer to being done!

No job for me yet! I'm just going to continue nannying until I find something.

How is everyone doing? What has been going on?? Me and Thame went to the Dave Matthews concert a couple weeks ago and it was amazing. He is my favorite..ahhhhh....love him.

Update on Torey

Sorry for not updating sooner...hectic/awful week.

Torey is showing some improvement. She is still on the ventilator at 40% oxygen and the peep is at 7/10 (which is the pressure in her lungs). Thursday they took her for an xray and her right lung collapsed again, so now she has 2 chest tubes in her right lung and is in a LOT of pain because of that. Her xrays have shown improvement in the pneumonia, though, and the docs have said it is just going to be a very slow recovery, but she WILL recover. Her right lung has a lot of damage to it, though. She did start to run a fever a few days ago, so they were worried about infection, but they put in a picc line to help prevent some infection. She is still in ICU and are watching her closely. I wish I could be in Mobile with her!!!!!! UGH!

Pray for Torey!!!

My best friend Torey is in intensive care right now. It started out as strep throat and then developed into pneumonia. She was put into the hospital because she was having trouble breathing and they found that she had low oxygen levels. Well they did a CT scan and found that her upper right lobe of her lung was collapsed so they put in a chest tube to drain the fluid and reinflate it. Well, now the pneumonia has spread to her left lung and she was put on a ventilator overnight to help her rest. She is very sick right now! Please pray for her!

School...houses...jobs...BLAH

Well...I am about 90% sure I will most likely be staying in Birmingham after graduation. I'm disappointed that I don't get to move back, but it's probably for the best. Many of the Birmingham schools are still hiring and Mobile seems to have nothing! South's Medschool is being stupid and didn't even give Thame an interview, so USASOM is out of the question for this year...but he still has a chance with UAB. I just feel like I am supposed to be in Birmingham right now...and I am okay with it...I will get back to Mobile eventually!!!

I'm currently hunting for a new place to live and it is very frustrating!!! This place is just too expensive for us right now and we need something cheaper! I really want somewhere with hardwood floors! This whole carpet and yorkie thing aren't meshing well! I'm really interested in a townhome, but they are all in bad locations or way old! ugh! Anyway....hopefully I will be able to find something soon...my lease runs up May 31.

I'm also trying to find a job for this summer...and fall of course! I'm applying to a job at the Birmingham Zoo! They are looking for teachers for their summer camp program and I really hope I get it...it seems like it would be a fun experience! I have my interview day with the Jefferson County Board of Ed. on April 1st (Thame's bday, by the way!) and hopefully they will like me!! It's an all day thing...I get to pick who I want to interview with...they have to give me an interview...they are like 15 min long and then if they like me they will ask me back the next day for a more thorough interview! I really hope I am able to find a job! It would take such a load off...

Spring break is almost over and it has been WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These next few weeks, however, are going to be insane. I have to babysit everyday for the next 3 weeks, student teach all day, complete my assignments, find a job, find a new place to live, and survive! BUT, only 50 days till graduation!!!!


How is everyone's bracket doing??? Thame has gotten me hooked in March madness! I'm not doing soooo bad...I have 170 points. Western Kentucky killed me!!! And...Tennessee just lost :(

Can't catch a break!

I'm sick again!!! Imagine that!!!! I caught whatever Thame had, but i'm thinking I might have brought it home from school in the first place. I have had a 100.7-101 fever since yesterday and medicine doesn't seem to help it much. I'm coughing like crazy!! I don't know what it is, but hopefully it will be gone soon. I just hope I don't have to miss tomorrow. I am teaching my full days now...and it is very tiring. Its not so much the teaching, but the classroom management part of it. I feel like I yell at them all day, but they just don't listen!! Ugh! Usually I don't yell, I just kind of talk to them privately and tell them to stop, but the other day my patience was shot and you could hear a pen drop in that room! Hahaha! Their faces were like..."woah! she really can yell!" Made me laugh...anyway. Hope everyone is staying well...I sure hope this is almost over!

I have a cute video to share as well...Thame was playing playstation and their was a airplane flying across the screen and Lexie was trying to attack it! It was too funny!
